The gameplay has the player choose from a variety of big robots to fight one-on-one against other robots piloted by aliens known as the Akirovs. The story as shown in the video game cutscenes appears to be very different from the story told in the manual. According to the game, human overpopulation has stretched the Earth's resources thin, forcing civilization to send spaceships into outer space to find other places to mine resources. After finding that a number of these ships have been destroyed by Akirovs, the space forces have decided to send squads of mecha pilots to stop their attacks and prevent them from harassing their operations again.
